With over 25 years of experience delivering strategic transformation programmes in one of the FTSE 100 top companies, my focus has been on developing high performing teams that collaborate and adapt to deliver sustainable change in the organisation.
I moved over 25 years ago from a small company focussed on simplifying user experience for complex IT systems, to working in Vodafone UK leading the requirements analysis for the systems that support the network. For the next 15 years I performed a variety of roles, from business analysis to project and programme management in the UK. I focused on programmes that delivered capability to support the UK’s business customers, culminating with a key change role in Vodafone’s largest transformation programme to date. Involved from the start, I managed the set-up of new business teams through to the business deployment and adoption activities.
I moved to Vodafone Group 8 years ago joining the Business Transformation department as the Change Management Lead. At that time, there wasn’t any existing change management capability in Group and a complete lack of understanding of the benefits. Since then, I have not only built an internal change team, but changed the perception of the value of change management through building awareness and delivering exceptional results. I established a change management practice from scratch, defining the team structure, ways of working, behaviours, and best practice to enable successful change in a global organisation.
During that time, Vodafone programme delivery transitioned from traditional waterfall to an Agile methodology. This required our change management best practice to develop to complement Agile ways of working. With little external sources of expertise on change management in an Agile environment, we developed and proved our practices in a series of successful programmes. As a result, I was invited to speak at various external conferences on both change management practices and building successful teams.
Throughout my career, I have always been passionate about working with people whether as stakeholders, colleagues, or team members. What gets me out of bed in the morning is seeing the growth of individuals and teams to be the very best that they can. This is my ethos and approach; from experience I know it to be the key to successful delivery of change.
I also believe that the ability to attract, develop and retain the right people can make or break an organisation. My focus is to build strong, effective, resilient teams, with a culture designed to perform.
Away from work, my lifestyle is very different as my husband is a dairy farmer. I moved to the farm 10 years ago and now have the pleasure of sharing my home life with him, my son (currently at university), 2 cats and about a thousand cows! It does mean I get the opportunity to go on long country walks in a beautiful area on the edge of the Cotswolds.
